The Philippines

With 7,107 islands, and a coastline twice the length of that of the United States, the Philippines can claim to be Asia’s Beach Capital. Enjoy the warm crystal blue waters of both the China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Mention the Philippines and images of long, white sand beaches and bodies of water with a variety of marine life come to mind.
 
The Philippines is one of the largest island groups in the world which has three main major areas that correspond broadly to the ethnicity of the human population. These are Luzon, Visayas , and Mindanao. Manila is the capital of the Philippines.

Language
Filipino (Tagalog) is the national language of the country although in the Visayas and in Mindanao other distinct languages are spoken. English is widely spoken in urban areas and it is also the medium of instructions in higher education as well as the language in commerce.

Climate
The Philippines enjoys a tropical climate, with a normal average year-round temperature of 27°C (82°F). There are two pronounces seasons – dry and wet. March to May is hot and dry, June to October is rainy, November to February is cool.

Currency
The local currency is the Philippine peso.

Local Time
The Philippines is on a single time zone. It is eight hours in advance of GMT.
