Bali
Blessed with natural beauty, one of the top attractions for visitors to Indonesia is without any doubt the island of Bali. With its multitude of mountains, volcanoes, beaches, paddy fields, customs, local lifestyle, art, religions and attractions, Bali is popular as a gateway destination. The friendliness of the Balinese makes many visitors feel at home on the island. Geographically, Bali is situated between the Islands of Java and Lombok, and thus boasts a stunning coastline of beautiful beaches for relaxing or waves of international standards for surfing.
The Balinese have strong spiritual roots and culture. The main religion is Hindu Dharma, which although hail originally from India, comprises a unique blend of Hindu, Buddhist, Javanese and ancient indigenous beliefs. It is thus very different from the Hinduism practiced in India today.
The majority of Bali’s three million people live, for the most part, in tight village communities with large extended families. The largest towns are the Denpasar (The Capital), and Singaraja in the north. The central village of Ubud, in the hilly region of Gianyar, is considered to be the artistic and cultural centre of Bali. There are many handicrafts that can be purchased in Bali which makes very attractive souvenirs.
Benoa is the biggest port in Bali province. The port of Benoa can now proudly claim to be the main entrance for tourism into Bali and East Indonesia.
Benoa port offers safe anchorages and facilities for cargo handling and passenger vessels and will soon have 200 yacht capacity marina and restaurant.
The port of Benoa provides a Baliness architecture passenger terminal. It is capable of handling up to 800 passengers and car parking for 500 vehicles. The port of Benoa is close to the International Airport of Ngurah Rai, excellent ferry and cruising service operating out of the port to the eastern island such as Lembongan Island, Lombok, Komodo, Flores and so on.
The port of Benoa is surrounded by Badung Hill at the south, at the west by Ngurah Rai International Airport, and the beautiful island of Serangan at the east. The Serangan Island is a very natural protection for the harbour against the high waves.
