Kingdom of Cambodia

The Kingdom of Cambodia covers an area of 181,035 sq km., bordering with Thailand (803 km), Laos (541 km), Vietnam (1,228 km), and the Gulf of Thailand (443 km). The terrain conditions are mostly low and flat except mountainous areas in both southwest and north.

Cambodia is a land rich in cultural, historical, religious and archeological treasures nestled within a beautiful natural landscape. This charming land have opened its doors to offer visitors a unique experience with its gracious residents, traditional dances and numerous ancient temples such as the Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom.

The country possesses over 1300 historical, cultural and natural tourist sites throughout the entire land. Phnom Penh, the capital, not only acts as the political centre and business hub of Cambodia but is also a tourism destination with over 200 ancient temples.

The coastal zone is a 435 km long coastline strewn with beaches, mangrove forests, coral reefs and sea grass beds offering visitors the opportunities to relax on pristine beaches, discover the underwater world or even study the ecosystem of the coastline.

Cambodia has a population of 14 million with 1.4 million residing in its capital city, Phnom Penh. The majority of the population is Khmer which accounts for 90% of the nationals, followed by minor ethnic groups such as Chinese (3%), Vietnamese (2%), Cham (Khmer Islam, 2%), and Hill tribes called Khmer-Loeu (3%).


Language
The national language is Khmer. However, other spoken languages include English and French.
